Welcome to the Age of Sosaria Open World Dueling System!

Traditionally in Ultima Online, engaging in combat in safe zones like Trammel, Luna, or near Britain Bank is strictly prohibited, and attempting to do so will result in an instant Guard execution.

To give players the freedom to test their armor builds, practice PvP techniques, or just settle a friendly rivalry anywhere in the world, we have built a custom non-lethal dueling system. You can now engage in honorable combat right in the middle of town without risking your items, taking murder counts, or permanently dying!

📜 How to Initiate a Duel

To challenge another player to combat, simply type the following command into your chat bar:

[Duel Once typed, you will receive a targeting cursor. Click on the player you wish to fight. 💡 Note: You must be within 15 tiles of your opponent to issue a challenge.

⚔️ The Rules of Engagement

Once a challenge is issued, the target player will receive a prompt on their screen asking them to accept or decline the honorable Mak'Gora. If they decline, the challenge is quietly voided. If they accept, the system takes over!

=== The Countdown === The absolute second the duel is accepted, the server immediately flags both players as Orange (Enemies) to each other, allowing you to bypass all safe-zone restrictions. However, both players are temporarily frozen in place while the system broadcasts a countdown:

3... 2... 1... FIGHT! Once the word "FIGHT" appears, both players are unfrozen and combat begins! === The Arena Bounds (Anti-Fleeing) === While the system is called "Open World", you cannot use it to run an endless marathon. There is an active distance tracker pulsing in the background. If the two duelists drift more than 30 tiles apart from each other, the server automatically assumes someone is attempting to flee. The duel is instantly voided, all combat flags are stripped, and a server message is broadcast announcing the cowardice!

=== Non-Lethal Combat === This is the most important feature of the system: You cannot die in a duel. The core server engine constantly monitors your health during the fight. If a player is struck with what would be a completely fatal blow, the server intercepts the damage! Instead of dropping your corpse, you will instantly be locked at exactly 1 Hit Point.

The combat flags will instantly drop, your weapons will sheath, and the winner is publicly announced!

=== Post-Fight Recovery === Because duels are designed to be gritty and realistic, the server does not magically refund your health or mana after the fight concludes. The loser will be left battered at 1% health and must manually heal themselves using Bandages, Potions, or Spells before they can safely return to hunting or issue a rematch!
