The Shadow Clone Pet System is an advanced, Ninja-themed pet crafting system on Age of Sosaria. It allows players to extract the raw essences of defeated monsters and bind them into temporary, visual clones of themselves. These clones are extremely efficient in packs and operate as a specialized non-tamer combat option.
Overview
- Required Skills: 50.0 Ninjitsu & 50.0 Anatomy (to craft).
- Tamer Restriction: Cannot be used if Animal Taming is 60.0 or higher.
- Control Slots: Each clone occupies exactly 1 Control Slot.
- Duration: Clones last for 5 minutes before disappearing and returning to scroll form.
- Cooldown: The summoning scroll has a 10-minute cooldown between summons.

Core Components & Sourcing
1. Shadow Kunai
- Description: The harvesting tool used to extract monster essences.
- How to Obtain: Drops extremely rarely (1 in 450 chance) from high-level Tokuno monsters (Oni, Yamandon, Rune Beetles, Yomotsu Elders, Lady Snow, etc.).
- Usage: Double-click the Kunai and target a fresh, un-carved monster corpse.
- Note: Cannot harvest from Paragons, Champions, Mythics, or any creature with over 2,500 Max HP.
2. Vial of Shadow Essence
- Description: Stored stat containers containing the Str, Dex, Int, Hits, Damage, and Resistances of the harvested creature.
- How to Obtain: Successfully harvested using a Shadow Kunai.
3. Ninjutsu Binding Scroll
- Description: The crafting scroll used to bind essences.
- How to Obtain: Drops extremely rarely (1 in 775 chance) from high-level Tokuno monsters.
- Usage: Double-click the scroll to open the Binding Gump. Requires 4 Vials of Shadow Essence and 50.0 Ninjitsu / Anatomy.
4. Ninjutsu Summoning Scroll
- Description: The final product used to summon the clone.
- How to Obtain: Crafted via the Ninjutsu Binding Scroll.

Crafting Mechanics & The Success Formula
When using a Ninjutsu Binding Scroll, the player can choose one of three clone combat styles:
- Melee Assassin: Focuses on Swordsmanship and Wrestling.
- Shadow Mage: Focuses on Magery, Evaluate Intelligence, and Meditation.
- Phantom Archer: Focuses on Archery and spawns with 1,000 Arrows.
The Success Rate
Binding shadow energy is highly unstable. The success rate uses the same punishing formula as Flesh Golem stitching:
- Base Success Chance: 50%
- Strength Penalty: Higher average stats of the 4 essences will penalize the chance:

- Luck Bonus: Luck is highly recommended to offset this penalty:

Stat Inheritance
The clone inherits exactly 35% of the averaged stats from the 4 essences used to craft it. For example, if the average HP of the 4 essences is 2,000, the clone will have 700 HP.
Skills
The clone's skills scale directly off its inherited stats:

- Anatomy: <math>100 + (\text{Str} \times 0.1)</math>
- Magic Resist: <math>100 + (\text{Int} \times 0.1)</math>

Appearance
Upon summoning, the clone generates a smoke effect and copies the summoner's body, gender, hair, and all worn equipment. However, all copied items are forced to Hue 1 (Pitch Black), giving the clone a pure silhouette appearance.
The Pack Buff
To incentivize collecting and using multiple scrolls, Shadow Clones possess a hidden pack synergy. When multiple clones owned by the same master attack the same target:
- Each clone gains a +10% damage bonus per additional clone attacking the target.
- At a full pack of 5 clones, all clones deal +40% damage.

Summary of Lifespan
When a clone is summoned, it remains active for 5 minutes. If it is killed or its timer expires:
- It dissolves into a cloud of smoke.
- The original Ninjutsu Summoning Scroll is automatically returned to the player's pack (or bank if the player is dead).
- The returned scroll is set to a 10-minute cooldown before it can be used to summon the clone again.
