Skill Gains and Accelerated Learning
Age of Sosaria features a fully customized, highly player-friendly Skill Gain System designed to reduce the tedious, repetitive grinding typically associated with traditional Ultima Online shards, while maintaining a balanced and rewarding progression.
By utilizing our custom sliding scale multipliers, hard skill overrides, and the specialized Tome of Accelerated Learning, you can fast-track your character builds and get straight into end-game PvM and PvP action!
1. The Skill Gain Sliding Scale
On Age of Sosaria, as your base skill levels increase, the server automatically increases the ease of gaining skills. This ensures that the notoriously difficult "last 10 points" (from 110.0 to 120.0) do not become an agonizing roadblock:

| 100.0 to 110.0 | 4.0x | Gains are four times as easy to achieve. |
| 110.0 to 120.0 | 5.0x | Gains are five times as easy to achieve! |
2. Specific Skill Tier Multipliers
In addition to the sliding scale above, the server applies permanent multipliers to specific skills that are historically expensive, difficult, or highly grindy to raise:
The "Very Hard" Tier (2.0x Multiplier)
These skills receive a permanent 2.0x boost to all gain checks:
- Animal Taming (also receives a secondary 2.0x base bonus, making it extremely easy compared to standard shards!)
- Discordance
- Provocation
- Poisoning
- Lockpicking
The "Expensive & Grindy" Tier (1.5x Multiplier)
These resource-heavy or combat-utility skills receive a permanent 1.5x boost:
- Spells & Magic: Magery, Necromancy, Mysticism, Spellweaving
- Crafting: Blacksmithing, Tailoring, Tinkering, Carpentry, Bowcraft/Fletching, Inscription, Alchemy
- Support & Recovery: Healing, Veterinary
3. Tome of Accelerated Learning
For adventurers who want the ultimate training speed, the Tome of Accelerated Learning is an invaluable custom item.
How It Works
- Double-clicking the Tome in your backpack opens the Accelerated Learning Gump.
- Select any active skill you wish to boost.
- Upon activation, the Tome grants your character a **5.0x gain rate multiplier** for the selected skill!
- The buff lasts for 20 minutes. When it expires, you will receive a notification: "Your accelerated learning effect has worn off."
How to Obtain the Tome
The Tome of Accelerated Learning is a premium utility item that can be obtained in three ways:
- Inscription Crafting: Legendary Scribes can craft the Tome of Accelerated Learning using the Inscription skill.
- Required Skill: 90.0 to 120.0 Inscription
- Ingredients: 100 Blank Scrolls
- Treasure Hunting: Sunken chests dug up from high-tier Level 6 (Ingenious) and Level 7 (Diabolical) treasure maps have a chance to contain a Tome.
- Paragon Hunting: Defeating powerful Paragon Monsters and looting Paragon Chests in Ilshenar dungeons has a rare chance to drop the Tome.
Note: Stacking a Tome of Accelerated Learning (+5.0x) on top of the server's high-tier sliding scale (+5.0x) and a skill override (+2.0x) allows you to cap out difficult skills like Animal Taming or Magery in a fraction of the time!
