Vanguard Initiation and Graduation

The Vanguard Initiation is the official starter questline for all new characters spawning on Age of Sosaria. Set in the safe starting city of New Haven, this questline is highly recommended for all players as it guides you through the basics of the shard's combat while rewarding you with powerful, blessed early-game gear and specialized starter packages.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Step 1: Meet Captain Aric

Upon entering the realm, look for Captain Aric, the Vanguard Captain, stationed in the town center of New Haven.

• Double-click him to initiate the quest.
• Captain Aric will ask you to prove your basic survival skills by traveling directly east to the ruins of Old Haven and slaying 5 Undead creatures roaming the ruins.

Step 2: Choose Your Specialization Path

After defeating the undead and returning to Captain Aric, you will be formally inducted into the Vanguard. Aric will prompt you to choose one of three specialized paths depending on your character's archetype:

The Tamer's Path	Exotic Starter Pet Crystal	Double-clicking the crystal summons one of three random pets that require 0 Taming skill to control: Fledgling Wolf Forest Wisp Pygmy Bear
The Crafter's Path	Vanguard Crafter's Bag & Vanguard Pack Beetle	The bag contains 6 high-use crafting tools. The Pack Beetle instantly bonds to you, allowing you to carry massive amounts of heavy resources (ore, logs) right away!

Step 3: The Awakened Lich (Mini-Boss)

To complete your initiation and graduate, Captain Aric will issue one final, dangerous challenge. An Awakened Lich has risen in the deep catacombs of the Old Haven Graveyard.

• Venture into the ruins (bringing friends or your new exotic starter pet is highly recommended!).
• Fight and defeat the Awakened Lich. Upon its death, any participant who dealt damage will receive a Vanguard Graduation Token placed directly into their backpack.

Step 4: Graduation & Starter Packs

Return to the safety of New Haven and double-click your Vanguard Graduation Token to open the Graduation Gump.

Select your permanent starter build pack. Each pack distributes a full set of blessed armor, a specialized combat weapon, and an incredibly powerful Young Player Ring designed to boost your attributes:

Note: While the Armor Suit and Weapons are permanently yours to keep, the specialized Young Player Rings are restricted to new players. The moment your account drops its 'Young' player status, these rings will automatically unequip and can no longer be worn! Use them to build up your gold reserves early!
