Being an Animal Tamer in the Age of Sosaria isn’t just about wrangling standard forest wolves or dragons. The realm is crawling with strange mutations, ancient magical beasts, and genetically altered species just waiting to be discovered, dominated, and bonded.
For those willing to brave the wilds and conquer the strongest bosses, an entirely custom progression path of legendary beasts awaits. We won't spoil the exact creatures that exist in the world—you'll have to find them yourself! But here is how the custom Menagerie system works:
🐲 The Pet Rarity Tiers
While standard Sosarian creatures still exist, experienced tamers should always be on the lookout for our custom, boosted rarity tiers:
- Exotic Tier: Powerful, visually distinct creatures that are highly sought after. Some exotics can be found roaming the deepest levels of dungeons or lurking in the darkest swamps, while others are exclusively found via Summoning Crystals.
- Legendary Tier: The absolute pinnacle of taming. These incredibly rare, god-like creatures possess massive stat pools, high resist caps, and unique abilities. You will almost never see one wandering freely; their power is typically locked away.
💎 Summoning Crystals
Not every custom beast can be traditionally tamed by walking up to it in the wild. As you explore end-game content and defeat powerful raid bosses, you have a chance to loot a highly coveted Summoning Crystal.
- How They Work: Double-clicking a Summoning Crystal unpacks the magical stasis field within it, instantly spawning a specific Exotic or Legendary creature.
- Taming: Once summoned from the crystal, the beast is yours! (Note: Keep an eye out for starter crystals, like the ones granted during the Vanguard Tamer Initiation, which feature pets that require 0 Taming skill to control!)
🎨 The Pet Dye Tub System
What is the point of riding a terrifying Legendary beast if it doesn't match your armor suit?!
The Age of Sosaria features a fully custom Pet Dye Tub mechanic.
- Once you obtain a Pet Dye Tub, you can customize the hue of your tamed creatures.
- Color Coordination: This allows you to perfectly color-coordinate your prized mounts and combat pets to match your guild colors, your custom Shrouds, or simply your personal aesthetic!
🤝 The Bonding Process
Don't forget to take care of your new beasts! While Summoning Crystals instantly grant you ownership, these rare creatures still require traditional care.
- Remember to feed your pet their preferred food to increase their loyalty and maximize their combat effectiveness.
- Always wait the required 7 days for the pet to Bond with you before taking it into dangerous situations, otherwise it will be gone forever if slain!
