Deep within the darkest recesses of Sosaria, Malakar the Blood Lord commands legions of the undead. This terrifying vampire has mastered the arts of blood magic and necromancy. He cannot be fought normally—you must track down the Blind Necromancer to understand the dark ritual required to summon him from his slumber.

📜 The Shadow Lord Questline

To face Malakar, you must complete a multi-part quest chain. The quest giver, The Blind Necromancer, can be found waiting in the dark streets of Umbra.

Part 1: Wraiths of Umbra

  • Objective: Slay 20 Wraiths.
  • Reward: 1 Ethereal Ectoplasm, progression to Part 2.

Part 2: The Innocent Blood

  • Objective: Slay 25 Lich Lords.
  • Reward: A Vial of Innocent Blood, handed to you directly — no additional synthesis step is needed.

Part 3: The Desecrated Tombstone

  • Objective: Locate the Desecrated Tombstone within the dungeon of Doom. Double-clicking the altar with the Vial of Innocent Blood in your backpack will shatter the wards and summon Malakar into our realm. Show him no mercy!
  • Note: The Tombstone has a 5-minute cooldown between summons.
  • Reward: Defeating Malakar awards the Shattered Phylactery as a trophy of your victory, in addition to his normal loot below.

WARNING

Malakar is incredibly resilient to physical and poison attacks. He takes massive damage from spells or weapons imbued with Fire.

🔨 Rumored Abilities

Malakar relies on draining the life force of his attackers. It is absolutely critical that players do not huddle too closely together.

Rumor Description
Blood Leech Adventurers claim he can rapidly draw the blood from anyone standing too close to him, using their life force to violently heal his own wounds.
The Swarm Some survivors swear they have heard him command the creatures of the night right before a terrifying swarm of blood-crazed bats descends to overwhelm the battlefield.
The Tether If fighting in a group, beware the dark tethers. It is rumored that he can magically bind two living souls together—if those tethered souls stray too far apart, the link violently snaps, severely damaging them both!

💎 The Loot Table

When the Blood Lord falls, he explodes in a violent shower of Gold and loot.

💎 Drops

  • Mythic Cores: 4 to 7 randomly generated cores.
  • Gold: 15,000–25,000 Gold, plus a separate Rain of Gold effect spread across the floor.
  • Sosarian Coins: 75 to 125 additional coins.
